Casio Privia PX-160 88-Key Digital Stage Piano in Champaign Gold - PX-160GD
Bring home Casio's entry-level Privia digital piano, and get gorgeous grand piano sounds with 88 fully weighted hammer-action keys, plus USB MIDI and more.

he Casio PX-160 Privia Digital Piano was designed to recreate the full, sophisticated sound of a grand piano in a lightweight digital package. With 88 full-sized and weighted keys, the PX-160 offers a natural, responsive feel that classical pianists will love. If your priority is a fantastic grand piano sound for a competitive price, you've found your next instrument. And with a redesigned speaker system, new string and electric piano tones, and added output options, this is the perfect digital piano for players of all levels.

Grand Piano Sounds in Under 25 Pounds
From rich stereo grand piano to organs, electric pianos, strings and bass, the PX-160 has 18 built-in tones that are reproduced in full, detailed fidelity thanks to the built-in twin 8-watt speakers. When you sit at the keyboard, you'll hear high notes from the right of center and bass notes from the left, just as you would on an acoustic piano. Plug in an optional piano-style sustain pedal, and the PX-160 simulates the sound of open strings when the dampers are raised, adding a layer of dynamics and exceptional detail for a powerful performance. While some digital pianos have a damper function that merely mutes the notes, the Damper Resonance Simulator mimics what happens in a real piano: a shift in the a resonant characteristics of the modeled acoustic chamber. It's a subtle effect, yet it contributes tremendously to the keyboard's organic sound.

Realistic Tri-Sensor Scaled Hammer-Action Keyboard
For authentic performances, the way an instrument feels is every bit as important as how it sounds. A grand piano's mechanics consist of a complex system of levers, joints, hammers, and strings. The PX-160's keys recreate an acoustic piano's natural playing resistance, so it feels like you're playing the real deal. "Scaled" means that this resistance gets heavier as you move towards the bass end of the keyboard -- just like on a real piano, where hammers hitting heavier-gauge strings result in heavier-feeling keys.

128-Note Polyphony: Hear Every Note
Polyphony determines how many notes your digital instrument can produce at one time. A real acoustic piano has no polyphonic limitations. When you play a digital piano with limited polyphonic ability, you'll see why high polyphony matters: if you play more notes than the keyboard's processors can handle, some notes will be cut off. To avoid this problem, the PX-160 is capable of 128-note polyphony. In other words, it can produce more notes than there are keys on its keyboard -- so cut-off and muted sounds will never be a problem, even when playing along with yourself on the on-board 2-track recorder.

Smoother Look, Richer Sound
The chassis of the PX-160 has been elegantly redesigned, but this time beauty isn't just skin deep. Thanks to the redesign the PX-160 can now accommodate the new speaker system, which is ported in both the front and the back to allow optimal air flow from the speakers in different setup positions. This means that in a classroom setting where the instructor is in front of and facing the audience, the students can hear the sound of the keyboard emanating from the back of the unit as well as the instructor can hear it in the front.

The Privia Digital Piano as a Learning Tool
The PX-160 sports a few instructional tools that make this keyboard a good choice for students or piano instructors. In particular, the "Duet Mode" is an invaluable tool for students and teachers. By splitting the keyboard down the middle into two parallel halves, the PX-160 allows two people to play on opposite sides of the piano in the same note range. It's like having two pianos right next to each other. No duet partner? There's on board two-track sequencer, so you can record and play along with yourself -- plus a Lesson function that lets you mute each hand's part.

No student should be without a metronome, so there's one included onboard the PX-160. You can dial in the tempo of any piece of music you want to play, and solidify your sense of time as you practice. Learn to play along with the built-in library of 60 classical and popular songs, or when the lesson is over, just kick back and enjoy some classy background music.
