Roscoe SKB 3005 Myrtle burl top on Walnut
There are times an old man's mind turns to cool basses of his youth. Back in the 80s Mike Tobias made some pretty cool basses that had walnut bodies with maple, zebra or lacewood tops. They had a very distinctive tone- tons of clear fundamental with sweet top end & very uncluttered midrange. We wanted to see if we could get that sound out of a 35" bolt-on bass. The experiment has been a success. This is an awesome sounding instrument. Fat but focused, cutting but not at all harsh. The walnut body makes it a little heavier than usual at 10 pound s6 ounces but it's part of the sound. 35" scale keeps the B string on target. 24 fret pao ferro fingerboard. Bartolini soapbars & 3 band preamp.
